Music Monday: Put It In a Fruit Machine?

Well.

I am a fever.

Because I woke up with one.

I wasn't born typical. And I'm not happy about being sick. Again.

I was going to be productive today.

Was.

Now I'm just going to sleep (and probably watch Skins when I get tired of sleeping).

Music Monday: If You Knew Better You Would Do Better.

I need a little pump up music energy boost this Monday. Oh, the hollordaze really got to me. So much food. So much drink. I need to dance it off. No really, if I don't dance soon I'magonnagocrazy. And when I say, I'm going to go, what I mean is that I'm going to become crazier than I already am.

I could be okay with that.

But I'd rather dance.

No official video for this song.

But.

You should know better.

Music Monday: You Can't Handle This. Mhhmm.

Every day I think, today is the day that Robyn is finally going to get old. But then I listen to her and I fall for it again. It's like dance-crack. So, here's more Robyn for everyone's Music Monday.

And also, what do you think of me copying her hair cut? I've never bleached it out before. I'd probably look like crap. But, maybe I wouldn't.

Music Monday: Watcha Do That For?

It's been awhile since I've posted a Music Monday, but here it goes.

Ms. Lily Allen telling it like it is, again. Slightly old-school, but it really nails my current situation. And it made me smile. That evil sort of smile, I shouldn't be smiling. I am probably in no state to watch Revenge either but I still do that too. Muhaha. Cackle. Cackle.

Music Monday: I've Got My Own Hell to Raise.

I've recently been going through a lot of personal drama which has prevented me from being able to blog. Obviously, it's difficult to write about anything besides the drama because it's like the one thing on my mind constantly and anything else that I might blog would just feel trivial to me.

But, it's not appropriate for me to get into in virtual space. I will say though that I would be dead without music.

I am almost entirely certain of it.

I especially do not think I could have made it through my life without Fiona Apple. And I am entirely grateful to have had her music in my life. She, more than any artist, has helped me make it over some major issues.

And, since it's Monday, and I try to regularly put music on here on this day, here's a little of her that I share with you.

(This helps express part of what I'm feeling, though not the entirety.)

Music Monday: I'm Not Anything At All.

I love her. I'm so excited she's coming to Boulder in October AND coming out with a new album. Wohoo. Happy Holiday Music Monday.

(You don't mean that, say you're sorry. (I'll make you sorry).)

Music Monday: Who You Dancin With?

OMGodess. I think I may be in love with this song. But it could be because I am often dancing on my own (except for the other night when I was dancing with many people). But anyway. Even though it's pop it still feels raw, like she really means it. Which, is kind of sad, but I think we've all been there, right? Right?

Music Monday: Stroking it Hard.

Why is their music so upbeat and yet their lyrics are so depressing? I don't get it. But maybe they enjoy being contradictory.

Anyhoo. Here's some music for this sunny sunshine-y Monday.

Music Monday: Not Every Girl is an American Girl

Well. It's the United State's Birthday today. And maybe I'm an American Girl, maybe Hilary Clinton is an American Girl, but guess who is not--Michele Bachmann.

All I can say, is thank you Tom Petty.

Music Monday: Young Galaxy

This song is gorgeous; I could potentially listen to it over and over again. Though I won't because, yeah, I'd like it to stay gorgeous and not get on my nerves (like your face). Just kidding about the face thing.

Oh and the video's pretty sexual too. So. Enjoy that.

Music Mondays: We Are Extraordinary, Those Who Are Not Ordinary That is.

Fiona Apple has been one of my favorite musicians since 1996, basically, when Tidal came out and changed my life. Well, Tidal and I grew together; the older I got, the more experiences I encountered, the more I understood the album and its great emotional impact. For awhile every time I heard "Never is a Promise" I would cry, I blame it on the violins. And boys.

But then in 2005 her new album came out and it helped me in a whole new way. This song particularly. Perhaps it could do the same for you...

"If there was a better way to go, it would find me."

I apologize that the video isn't "official" and is also kind of weird.

Music Mondays: Let's Bring Back Some Rage.

I've been working out almost every day to Rage Against the Machine. I don't know why, but I'm thinking it's a sign. What better place than here. What better time than now. I think we need a Rage come back. Not just the band but our own mentalities. Or at least my mentality.

"Because the machine will try to grind you into dust anyway, whether or not we speak." -- Audre Lorde

I feel like I wax and wane on my level of intensity in yearning to help transform the world. I mean, obviously I want to help make it a better place but there are moments, plenty of moments when I get discouraged. Luckily there are other creators and innovators out there to feed other creators and innovators--we can nourish each other--help each other grow.

Remind us to speak.

Remind us that the time is now.

Music Mondays: Push the Way You Move Real Good.

I woke up with Outkast stuck in my head, which was rather frightening to tell you the truth. Anyway, I looked it up and found this combo video with one of my fav groups of all time Salt N Pepa; I found it to be quite entertaining, I hope you do to. Enjoy:

Music Mondays: Christ Wants to Know?

Because Judgement Day is upon us...or so they say and I may not have another music monday.

Who will save your soul? Jessica or Jewel?

Oh were you thinking it was going to be Jesus...think again sweetheart.

This may be the most disturbing video I have ever come upon....I wonder what kind of downers they took...they are too calm and sway-y to be undrugged.

Music Mondays: F*ck You!

Because sometimes it's better to sing it than say it, especially when you sing it in a bubble gum pop style.

I have the psychic ability to know this song will come in handy to many of you this week. Enjoy.

Music Mondays: Peaches, you want to be her.

Here's another addition of Music Mondays. I love Peaches, she's raunchy yet delectable. Plus she's just a major badass, her latest entertainment venture, a remake of Jesus Christ Superstar, aptly called Peaches Christ Superstar.

Can never get enough glam.

Girls want to be her too.

I have to include the Slippery Dick (it's just a fish in the atlantic) video as it stars Divine.

Nothing better than a little Divine on your Monday.

Music Mondays: The Morning Benders

Starting a new series! Enjoy!

"Excuses" by The Morning Benders with special guests + Echo Chamber Orchestra.

Love the violins at the end.
